LifeDop – RookiePops.com product of the year
For only $400 (and a pregnant wife) you can achieve sheer bliss, plus it is guaranteed to work under the most stressful of circumstances. Behold: The LifeDop During a few visits to the doctor, he held the probe on this little doohickey up to B's belly and I got to hear my baby-to-be's heartbeat. Pure unadulterated bliss! The pitter patter of the baby's hearts has noticibly slowed down from when I last heard it, but it is still very fast relative to a normal adult heartbeat (120-160 bpm.) Unfortunately, as much as I'd love to spend the $400 on that ... apparently ...
16 week update: avocados and more about twitter
What's been baking for 16 weeks and weighs less than a stick of butter?? Yup, you guessed it, my baby. If you think that food/baby reference is bad, wait till you hear this one from the twitterverse ... justfndoit: @rookiepops yum.....hmmmmm. You eat your young? http://myloc.me/NJJ1 Sun Sep 27 15:55:11 2009 Let me explain.... first the crazy reference, then the crazy twitter syntax. Sunday marked the day the my wife and I celebrated our pregnancy entering its 16th week. Like every other Sunday of late, I awoke much earlier than one should on their day off of work. The crazy thing was, it was ...
I’m going to twitter you in the facebook!
Ok... so I guess I have to admit that I have gone a teeny bit overboard with this whole social networking thing. The truth is, I just can't stop. In fact,as I type this very post, B (who mistakenly thinks we're having a conversation about her day) is telling me that I spend too much time in front of my computer. She hasn't realized yet that I'm quite adept at multitasking and a well placed "uhuh" or "no way!" or "oh no she didn't" can sustain a conversation for 10-15 minutes easy. [ouch ... she just caught me] Anyway, lately I've been ...
One Trimester Down, Two To Go
Yay!!! We made it through the first trimester and so far, so good. My baby is a trooper. Six months left to go. B is still having the occasional bout with nausea but I can tell that it is definitely happening less these days. Here's to her slowly regaining her appetite for my cooking! Its time to start telling people. I have a sneaking feeling that I'm going to be one of those proud fathers with 100's of baby photos in my wallet, not to mention gigabytes of videos on my phone. Its crazy, I feel like shouting at the top ...
12 weeks and counting …. yay for synapses!
The most dramatic development this week: reflexes. My baby's fingers will soon begin to open and close, his toes will curl, his eye muscles will clench, and his mouth will make sucking movements. In fact, if you prod B's abdomen, the baby would squirm in response, although you won't be able to feel it. His intestines, which have grown so fast that they protrude into the umbilical cord, will start to move into his abdominal cavity about now, and his kidneys will begin excreting urine into his bladder. Meanwhile, nerve cells are multiplying rapidly, and in your baby's brain, synapses are ...
photos of baby commercialism
Ok this is random... the last post got me thinking just how commercial having a baby has become so I randomly searched for the term "baby commercialism." These are my three favorite images that come up on a google image search for the term. 1) Womb TV: This really isn't that much of a stretch.Don't they say that putting headphones playing classical music on your baby momma's* stomach makes the baby smarter.I wonder what kind of effect broadcasting 24-hours of PBS, the science channel and discovery science straight into the womb will have on the baby's of the future. 2) Baby Billboard This is just ...

How we found out: plus a brief diatribe on baby commercialism
I figure that this soon-to-be baby is going to cost me lots and lots of money over the course of his or her lifetime. That means… in exchange for...

Sleepy Baby
This reminds me of the one or two undergrads that would sit in some of our 8am grad level lectures who knew better than to take an 8am class.
Proof that women start talking early AND often
I wonder if this is what my wife sounded like as a baby. I’m definitely on the couch tonight for that one.
Baby mop … FAIL!
How this isn’t considered child labor is beyond me … well, at least its funny.
According to the print ad:
“There’s no child exploitation involved. The kid is doing what he does best anyway, crawling. But with Baby Mop he’s also learning responsibility and a healthy work ethic.”
FAIL!
